Venue's

So, I think my favorite story so far of the whole wedding planning journey is about the venue.

FOUR months after getting engaged, and after the venue had been booked for 3 months, my parents, my cousins (for the pumpkin patch) and even my future in-laws (who flew to Seattle to watch Rachel run) have all seen The Farm before me.
(My future in-laws)

My dream (dating back to high school) was to have my wedding in the backyard with Dad flipping burgers.  But after being in a few wedding and talking to various people over the years, I found that I would rather have my parents enjoy the day with me, rather then work... and so began the adventure of finding the next best thing.

Todd had actually asked my Dad a month before he proposed, when my parents came down to California to visit.  Mom had a head start on me, and even had included some friends to search out venues.  What we didn't expect was that there would be so few dates to chose from, most ALL Saturday's were booked.  I was dead set on an outdoor wedding, and in Washington, that can prove to be difficult with the weather.  (BTW it has only rained 18 times on July 12 since 1893)

Mom had located The Farm, but hadn't actually seen it, as they were all booked for Saturday's.  But then one night (about 2 weeks after being engaged), Mom's good friend called and left a message, stating she had just come home from a wedding, and it was going to be perfect for me!  So, Mom quickly called and set up a meeting, and Aunt Melanie went along with.

The pictures she sent  me were beautiful, the Cascades in the background, a pond, gardens, and a rustic barn with chandeliers hanging inside.  It was going to be the perfect spot to create a country chic with a romantic elegance wedding.

Even in January, in the dead of winter, it was gorgeous, and I can so easily invision my day there marrying my best friend.
