Ginormous Giraffes

Mikaela and I got have a date this past week.  We started at Starbucks - coffee for mom and a cake pop for M.  She was a happy camper.

Then we were off to the zoo - singing the "Going to the Zoo" song.  We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo

The title of today's class was Ginormous Giraffes, geared towards 3-5 y.o  (I couldn't believe my luck a Friday class and GIRAFFES!!!)

We enjoyed making a giraffe puppet, listening to a story about giraffes, learning how tall the FOUR giraffes are at the zoo (did you know they grow 1.25 inches a DAY!!)

Picking leaves like a giraffe

Petting the giraffe skin

Finding Lulu!
The zoo had a baby giraffe born earlier this summer - she's already 7 feet tall.  M had a great time and even asked a few questions.  It has been fun watching her become a bit more interactive in new environments and with those she doesn't know.

Be Our Guest

Be our Guest! Be Our Guest!  Put our service to the test!
KNOBS

Once again I hosted the KNOBS annual tea party - this year's theme was Beauty and the Beast.    The weather cooperated so that we could sit outside.  Jenna was able to come this year, and now everyone has made an appearance and the KNOBS tea party.  The next goal - everyone there all at once!

My Helper
M was very excited for the tea party.   She understood that it was for 'girls only'.  She was very helpful the day of - helping to make food, put sprinkles on the grey stuff and putting popcorn in Chip.

Try the Grey Stuff

I received Mrs Potts at my 8th birthday (if I remember well enough).  She has a crack in her spout and sometimes leaks.  But she made a great vase for the day.

Brunch!  Yummy!

Until next year!

GOLDEN Birthday

Todd waited patiently to celebrate his GOLDEN birthday.  Turning 31 on the 31st.  Wanting to make him feel special we celebrated daily!  Each day I sent him clues to figure out the plans for that night.
Day 1 - National Night Out
BBQ with the neighbors and then to the Station - for ice cream cones (free) and checking out the fire trucks and police cars.
Day 2 - National Ice cream Sandwich Day

Day 3 - Outdoor Movie
We went to a local park for our first ever outdoor theater!  So fun!  We saw Sing - and highly recommend it!
Day 4 - International Beer Day
When you ask your 2 year old to take a picture of you - it turns out pretty good.  =)
Day 5 - Fair scones
We headed to my hometown parade with friends and the fair.

Day 6 - UW picture day
M was pretty stoked for this! She got to meet Jake "Brownie" Browning.  We talked about not being shy, and this was her chance to talk to the players.  She was brave - and told him good luck this season.
Day 7 - Seahawks Smoothie cup and straws
Day 8 - Outdoor Concert and Food trucks
Day 9 - I left it up to Todd to take a selfie...  But he went to hit golf balls and to the local watering hole with one of my cousins.
Day 10 - National S'more day
We had to get creative here.  There was a burn ban due to all the smoke in the air caused by fires in Canada.  So we made do with an ice cream version!

Day 11 - Legos
At this point M was catching on that we were celebrating Dad's birthday.  She was concerned that she didn't have a 'president' for him.  So she woke up this morning stating she wanted to get Daddy an airplane.  We had a discussion about who the present was for (not M).  We headed to Target - and she walked up and down the toy aisle before deciding she wanted to get him the lego kit to make an airplane.
Day 12- Aquatic Center
Day 13 - Bike Ride to Junk Yard
We rode our bikes along the trail for roughly 8 miles round trip.  We stopped at this burger joint I had been wanting to try for quite some time.  It was decorated like an old gas station with vintage signs and gas pumps.  We just had to follow our nose off the trail to find it.

Day 14 - No pictures were taken - but lets just say it was National Relaxation Day - which meant a trip to the salon...

Day 15 - M's v Orioles

Day 16 - Hatch peppers for Salsa

Day 17 - At home

Day 18 - Fill your own cups slurpees

Day 19 - Golf Lessons

Day 20 - Casper Baby Pants Concert

Day 21 - Eclipse Glasses

Day 22 - Corn hole in the backyard
Day 23 - Family BBQ as my cousin goes off to college
Day 24 - Waffles and Driving Range
I picked one of my cousins up for National Waffle night!  and then the Driving Range.

Day 25 - Birthday Dinner Celebration

Day 26 - Evergreen State Fair - tradition

Day 27 - Driving Range - again =)
We have a new hobby!  Golfing!!!  In case you couldn't tell.
Day 28 - My birthday - OUTSIDE!!!

Day 29 - Josh Turner Concert at the fair
 Day 30 - At home movie night = )

Day 31 - 31 on the 31st at 31 Flavors

BIRTHDAY CROWN

CARDS CARDS CARDS
I sent out to the families - and look at the response!  Mail kept coming all month long - cards after card for the hubby's birthday.    So much so that he would accuse me of opening his cards (when some were actually for me, lol!!!)

Auntie visits!!!

Siblings - Getting picked up at the airport
We got back from our trip to Chelan and AUNTIE was here to visit!!!   We had so much fun showing her around town.  She was recovering from hip surgery so we had a relaxed visit mixed with a bit of fun.  It's the first time she came by herself and was wonderful to be able to spend that one on one time with her.

Taking the two giraffe lovers to see #seattlestallestbaby
We went to go see Lulu

Taking in a local single A baseball game.  It was a lovely night for baseball with the sun shine and fireworks afterwards.

Auntie and M

Sistah Sistah

Auntie was able to watch M for a few days as well, while we went off to work.  They had fun with the ice cream truck, playing outside and learning never to trust a 2 year old...  (we still wear pull ups for nap time).
