In sickness...

In sickness... and in health.  That seemed to be our theme for our 2nd anniversary.

We had a wonderful weekend planned.  We started off with my sister and her BF visiting and staying with us.  We were going to start off with celebrating a wedding of some distant cousins, but  Mikaela got sick, and began vomiting in the car.  Poor girl - we thought she was just car sick...

Cookie Butter!!!
We still enjoyed our time together, played cards and ate cookie butter (from Trader Joe's).

On Saturday, Todd and I went to Wicked!  at the Paramount in Seattle. We were eagerly awaiting to go to the show, Mom and Dad gave us tickets for our birthday last year.  We decided to make good on them over our anniversary weekend.  The costumes and the music were Wickedly wonderful!!  I highly recommend the show - and even though I didn't know the story line I was pleasantly surprised with the "prequel" to Wizard of Oz.

Even though Mikaela was actually sick, Mom and Dad were still willing to watch our little baby.  She continued to not feel well, and we decided to go pick her up on Sunday, instead of go to the Mariners game.  We had tickets to go watch the Mariners v Angels (and re-live our first date ever).

A few hours after getting home, I started to not feel well, and spent most of the day (our actual anniversary) going from the toilet to bed...  Not knowing how Todd and Mikaela were fairing.  But when I heard Todd vomiting, I sent an SOS to my parents.  They rescued us, picking up Sweet Pea and dropping off the BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast and sprite) diet for us.  So that's how we spent our anniversary weekend, its one we won't soon forget.

But, I wouldn't trade the weekend, as I did get to spend time with my sweet hubby.  We got to see how our village continues to support us.  Here's to a healthier year!!!

4th of July

Happy Birthday to America!

We celebrated with a good ole fashioned footrace!

Todd, Me and Mikaela - note her headband :)
Todd and I ran the 5.17 mile race, Mikaela was pushed in the stroller by my mom.  I have been running this race for the most part of 10 years (minus the years I lived in California).

I ran most of the race with two of my cousins, but of course they both beat me in the end.  Even Grandpa participated winning his age bracket in the two mile!  After the race we went to Snow Goose for Ice cream to celebrate!!

We finished the day with a BBQ and a dip in the pool to cool off!  This year because it has been so warm and dry we didn't shoot off fireworks, so we ended the evening early.

9 months

9 MONTHS

I know that each month I say this but, I can't believe how quickly time has flown by.  We ended this month with a big bang! (and no, it wasn't just fireworks!

Weekly Photos of Mikaela

Mikaela started off the month in California - and dipped her toes in the ocean.
By the end of the month she learned how to zoom (or CRAWL) around the room.

Great Grandma Bush taught Mikaela how to do the "Indian War Cry" where she runs her hands over her lips and makes noises.  It cracks Daddy and Momma up each time!  (And one would think by now I would have figured out where my videos get saved to the computer)

She can say: "ba", "da" and has at times I think said "ma".  Her favorite still seems to be "da-da-da-da" on repeat.  At times I will walk by her room in the morning, and stop to listen to her babble before I go in to get her.  She is such a happy little girl.

We seem to have made some strides in the eating department.  She has learned how to self feed puffs and rice husk crackers.  We have also tried prunes (which momma found to be super sweet tasting), apples, rice cereal.

This little cutie stole the french fry right off my plate, and put it right in her mouth.  A first for Mikaela.

She took in her first baseball game - watching Josh play.

It has been so hot in the PNW this summer - over 80 deg on a consistent basis.  Mikaela got to splish splash with her cousins in their pool.  We also got Mikaela her own fish pool - complete with shade!

At the end of this month Mikaela hit some major milestones in the movement department this month!  She learned how to go from laying down to sitting up on her own. She began to crawl!!! She also learned how to pull herself up to a stand in her crib.
