My little baby is ONE YEARS OLD!!!! How did that happen??? They warn you that time flies, but I don't think I really believed it! I can remember bringing her home and wondering what the heck - they trust me?? And now she is a walking, babbling sweet pea.

At Mikaela's ONE YEAR check up she weighed 19 pounds 4 ounces (40%) and is 30.25 inches (83%).

Week 52
At one year Mikaela has SEVEN
teeth 3 on top and four on the bottom. She has begun to brush her teeth
(even making the "ahhh" noise).
Brushing Teeth
We started working on learning our body parts - she can point to her belly and to other's noses.
She loves being tickled and chased around. She loves kisses, Harry, her books and dogs.
WOOF
She
is getting to be a pretty good eater, and eats whatever we have for
dinner. She likes Daddy's lasagne, quesadillas and meatballs. She
isn't a fan of banana's in any form. She has also begun using a water
bottle.
She is standing like CRAZY and cruises everywhere. She often runs with her walker toy. And at 51 weeks she began to WALK!!!
First Steps
Mikaela
has learned to put herself to bed. After several days of the cry-it-out
method with Mama setting the timer, she now goes down without a peep.
We give her bottle, then brush her teeth. Then we say goodnight, and go
into her room to read a book and say our prayers. Then we tuck Mikaela
in with Harry and her blanket. Mikaela used to fall asleep while
getting her bedtime bottle, and then she relied on us to rock her to
sleep. As much as I loved rocking my baby to sleep, we decided it would
be best that she learned to lay down on her own. It helps that we
aren't strict about bed time, and have a baby led bedtime, but we aim
for between 7 - 7:30.
When
we go into her bedroom in the morning, she is usually a little monkey
jumping in her bed. It's too cute, that we haven't taught her the song,
about bumping her head...
Mikaela
got to attend a UW game, she was a great little cheerleader and clapped
along for the team. The weather cooperated, which helped as well.
We
took a trip down to Portland, and we ran into a park with a small wading
area, which we let Mikaela splash around in.
She also took swim
classes again, she is learning to 'jump' into the water and even took a
trip down the BIG slide. (I'm not sure who was more nervous...)
